In Italy, Rai has acquired FIFA World Cup 2022 television, digital and radio rights. All 64 matches will be telecasted live on Rai 1 in the territory and viewers can also live stream matches via Fubo TV. At least 28 matches of the tournament, including the opening match, final and both semi-finals, will be shown on the broadcaster’s flagship channel, Rai 1. FIFA signed an agreement with MEDIAPRO for media rights (TV, internet, mobile) in Spain for FIFA events including FIFA World Cup 2022.
CCTV is the major state and public broadcaster in China, the FIFA World Cup will be available for viewing on CCTV’s multiple channels as well as on various new media and mobile platforms (OTT). Al Jazeera has acquired the regional broadcast rights to the FIFA World Cups of 2022. The broadcaster will air games across the MENA region, The deal includes cable TV, satellite, terrestrial, mobile and broadband rights across 23 territories and countries. The FIFA World Cup 2022 is scheduled to be held in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arabian nation and the second World Cup entirely contested in Asia. 32 teams will participate in the tournament. Total 32 qualified teams will participate in the tournament, and will be divided into eight groups of four teams. Total 64 matches will be played in the competition (48 matches in group stage, eight games in Round of 16, four quarter-finals, two semifinal’s, one third-place game and the grand final). Top two sides from each group (16 teams) will advance to the knockout stage, and from the round of 16, eight-team will enter into quarterfinals, and winner team of four quarterfinals will reach into the semifinals. The four teams will compete in the semifinal’s for the final spot and winning teams from both semifinal’s will enter to play the grand final.
